Accessibility Statement

South Summit Dispatch is committed to ensuring that this website is accessible to all members of the public, including individuals with disabilities, in compliance with applicable federal and state law.

Our commitment

South Summit Dispatch believes that public safety information must be accessible to everyone we serve. We are working to ensure that southsummitdispatch.com meets recognized accessibility standards and provides an inclusive experience for residents and visitors of New Franklin, City of Green, Springfield Township, and Lakemore.

This statement applies to all pages on this domain. It does not apply to third-party sites we link to, including the City of Green’s COG meeting archive.

Conformance status

This site is designed to conform to Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 Level AA, the standard referenced by the U.S. Department of Justice’s Title II rule for state and local government websites.

Status: Partially conformant. Some content does not yet fully meet the standard — see Known limitations below.

Accessibility features

This site has been designed and tested with the following accessibility features:

  • Semantic HTML structure
  • Keyboard navigation throughout
  • Skip-to-content link
  • 4.5:1 minimum text contrast
  • Descriptive alt text on images
  • Screen reader tested (NVDA, VoiceOver)

Known limitations

We disclose these openly. Each item has a remediation target.

  • Org chart image (About page) — Text equivalent is provided below the image. We are working on a fully native HTML version. Target: Q3 2026.
  • Older PDF documents — Some archived PDFs predate current accessibility standards and may not be fully tagged. Contact us for an accessible version of any specific document.
  • Aurelian AI chat widget (Home page) — The chat widget is provided by Aurelian. We have verified keyboard accessibility but cannot guarantee full WCAG conformance for all interactions.

Review schedule

This statement is reviewed at least annually and after any major site update. The most recent review was completed on April 24, 2026. The next scheduled review is April 24, 2027.

A few quick notes:

  • Replace the placeholder phone number on the home/contact pages — I used the work number from your build doc (330-899-1047). Don’t post Leslie’s cell unless she’s confirmed it’s okay for public listing.
  • The “Known limitations” items are placeholders based on what’s in your build doc. Replace with whatever your axe/Lighthouse pass actually finds in build sequence step #7.
  • Run the conformance language past Leslie before publishing — “designed to conform to” and “partially conformant” are the legally cautious phrasings, but she should sign off given the Title II implications.
